Samsung envisions future in which tablets are the same as smartphones

I think most of us would prefer to carry as few gadgets around as possible, which is part of the reason why a tablet can seem like such an extraneous purchase. Anything your iPhone can do, your iPad can generally do better and with more comfort, except for one thing… make phone calls. However, iPads are really too big to bake cell phone modems into, which results in consumers carrying around two gadgets with mutually redundant functionality with them, when ideally they would only carry one.

IDC: Windows Phone 7 to be second only to Android by 2015

Almost six months after release, Windows Phone 7 is still an afterthought in the minds of most consumers when they think about what kind of smartphone to buy. For most consumers, the choice is between the big two: Android and iOS, with the occasional road warrior jockeying for a Blackberry.

N900 Still Awesome FireFox Ported To Pre

All well and good with WebKit, but every once in a while there’s a reason why you’ve got to pull out the Old Standby, right? Once reserved for the Maemo Elite, Firefox is slowly spreading from pocket to pocket, and webOS is mercifully the latest to get hooked up. We don’t know the full backstory here yet — it looks like you can’t download a user-friendly package right now — but this’ll undoubtedly be a good option when the Pre‘s in-built browser simply won’t do. It’s not an official port we’re looking at, but let’s be honest: the community does a better job half the time, isn’t it?
